Introduction

The theme explored within this tutorial group centres around an aim of provoking students to thinking critically: Discussing, diagramming, and arguing the relevance of their proposed piece of architecture.
  • Is the architecture necessary?
  • What is the architecture achieving?
  • What is the architecture argument?

Within the ‘Museum of Modern Artefacts’ Students have been given the freedom to decide the focus of facility, some examples may be; ‘museums of alternative culture’, ‘cycle through, museum of movement’, ‘ Brisbane river museum’, s standard set of requirements and brief is outlined.

Site constraints

A set of site constraints has been introduced to provide clarity and focus within the projects; each student encouraged to tackle a distinct issue within the site

Three zones, ‘the cliff’, ‘the dessert’ and ‘the river’ are outline in the diagram above, students are to select one of the three zones to site there building within, what are the issues within each of these area?, what is the strongest argument? As always critical through its encouraged, is there an argument against these divisions?

The argument is against the division of areas and to create a museum of sense that link all the three spaces of the ‘cliff’, ‘desert’ and ‘river’.
What are the issues within each area?
  • Cliff – existing vegetation, angled surface, enhance the connection from New Farm to the city via vertical connections to the clip top at key locations
  • Desert – Isolated space, would benefit with creating more movement to activate the space
  • River – Possible flood damage in the future

My Strongest argument - to create a museum of senese.

A Design based around the theory of perception and our individual interpretations of the Immediate site (Howard Smith Wharves) and site at large (Brisbane city)

The thread will follow my design process of the Museum of Senses
